Demands for the Incoming Berlin State Government in 2026
Berlin 2030: Circular Economy and Resource Transition for a Fair and Resilient City
The next five years will determine whether Berlin successfully transitions from a resource-intensive throwaway culture to a resilient, circular metropolis. Together with INKOTA, Zero Waste Berlin e. V., key civil society partners active in this field, as well as Circular Berlin members; we have published a comprehensive policy paper outlining crucial demands for the incoming Berlin state government.
Addressed to all political parties in the Berlin House of Representatives and the future coalition government, the paper highlights that a circular economy is far more than waste management.
It is a key driver for economic innovation, urban resilience, social inclusion, and global justice. From a circular building transition and systematic support for repair and reuse to targeted packaging solutions and fair global supply chains, we set out actionable, policy-ready solutions to establish Berlin as a circular pioneer city.
