A next step in building Berlin’s community for the Circular Economy

As we grew to 20+ people over the past years, we have always thought of bringing more people together, to work on Berlin’s circular economy. Today we are excited to introduce the Community Membership: a place to collaborate, learn, and develop your skills amongst other circular economy professionals.

The Community Membership, in a nutshell

Join our growing community of professionals, making Berlin’s circular economy happen. This is the best way to get involved with us, with deeper engagement possibilities further down the road.

  • Support our work on education, community-building, and hands-on projects
  • Collaborate, network and start new projects with like-minded people
  • Learn about the latest insights on the circular economy, jobs, funding opportunities, international and local events, through our team Slack
  • Develop your skills through knowledge sessions and workshops for members

The role of community

A circular economy is interdisciplinary by definition. Many of the problems which need to be addressed lie at the crossing between different industries, but also between business, academia, and politics. Over the past two years, we’ve been active in bringing these people together in Berlin, through our distributed calendar, Berlin’s circular economy ecosystem, educational formats and networking events. We are aimed at enabling people to meet each other and work together. Naturally, the next step is to move beyond sporadic events, towards a format where ongoing collaboration is possible. This is what the Community Membership is about.

Our hopes

By creating a way for more people to get involved, we hope to create a space to share, learn and collaborate between circular economy professionals. While we all have diverse backgrounds and skills, we can all work together by aspiring towards a shared vision of making the circular economy work in Berlin.

We don’t want to become bottlenecks in these discussions, but rather empower everyone to meet and start working together. To help with that, we are giving access to the ongoing streams of information (on Slack) which we already have in place – latest insights on the circular economy, jobs, funding opportunities, international and local events – and encourage everyone to contribute to them. As new collaborations start, new projects develop, and new skills are developed, we will support and connect, drawing upon our previous experiences.

FAQ

Are there other ways to get involved with Circular Berlin?

The Community Membership is a great way to get to know us, learn, see if you fit in, work on new projects, and find potential project partners. If you wish to increase your engagement with us, it will be much easier to do so once we know each other better. A detailed overview of all engagement options can be found here. If you want to make a financial contribution, you can do so here.

What language do you work in?

We use both German and English for our work. We developed as a collective of individuals coming from Germany and many other countries, so English naturally became one of our work languages.

Why does the membership cost money?

We are a non-profit association and rely on financial contributions – such as these ones – to be able to work on our activities.

I don’t have experience in the circular economy. Can I still join?

We believe it is valuable for people to join and dive into the information which is shared within the community, even if you don’t have experience in the area. We also host training sessions on a regular basis, to get you started.
